They are located in the Agura River bed in the Khostinsky district of the city, four kilometers from where it flows into the Black Sea. Three waterfalls stretch over several hundred meters: the upper waterfall (21 meters), the middle waterfall (23 meters), and the lower waterfall (30 meters).
The route to the Agura Waterfalls runs through a gorge along the Agura River. The trail was carved into the rocks in 1911 by employees of the Sochi Mountain Club. It runs along the edge of the gorge and is protected by metal handrails. The Agura River originates on the southern slopes of the Alek Ridge and, rushing toward the sea, creates cascades of waterfalls along its path. Along the way is a small lake called the Devil's Bath (bathhouse) and a small cave called the Devil's Hole.
In a dark gorge, among boulders and mountain cliffs, the Agura River roars, and sulfur springs with a pungent smell of hydrogen sulfide emerge. The most famous, the first Agura waterfall, is formed by two cascades: an upper 18-meter waterfall and a lower 12-meter waterfall. The streams of water fall at an angle to each other from different levels, and the waterfall appears to be broken in the middle. Below it is a wide, deep pool, reminiscent of a swimming pool with azure water. In front of the waterfall, a metal bridge spans the river. At the bottom of the gorge are giant limestone boulders.
500 meters up the trail along the Agura River, there is a second waterfall (23 meters), and even higher up, a third (21 meters). The second waterfall is a multi-stream waterfall, with water falling in streams from a small height into a pool 5 meters deep. Small caves are located on the left bank near the waterfall.
The third waterfall cascades down with a roaring, powerful torrent, like a giant shower. The rock pools at its base are full of rapids, and the water cascades from one to the other.
Near the waterfalls, a small kebab shop operates and homemade wine is sold. Since the Agura is fed only by snow and rain, it often dries up completely in the summer, and the waterfalls disappear. The best time to visit this attraction is autumn and spring, when heavy rains fill the Agura's bed. The waterfalls then appear formidable and majestic.
