Nikolay Nikitin, well, you can't really get a run-up at 5800m, after all. But yeah, there were some climbers and snowboarders who actually ran past us up there, and then when we got back to camp, they jumped 3 km down from 7100m past the crevasses, which is what they call a warm-up...
Amaniuto, thanks. The altitude is about 5800 meters. From this ridge you can see the Alay Valley (beyond the clouds) and the beginning of the Pamir Range.
The beauty is incredible!...And they don't land people there by helicopter?.., ))
Alexsanderbb, there was a unique case: the landing of troops on Lenin Peak (7134) on July 27, 1968, but in general, it is very difficult to carry out rescue operations at such an altitude; a helicopter usually picks up about 4300 people from the forward camp. But then again, the problem is that if they land at such an altitude without prior acclimatization, then honestly I do not envy such people....and the likelihood that they will all return is 50/50.
ash, a third? Yeah, I tried that, cropped the top and bottom, but the sky won't look too big, and if you crop it too much, it'll end up really narrow. There's some truth to that, I've noticed it myself.
